European Union reaches agreement on spending rules

Early on Saturday, the European Parliament and member states finalized negotiations on updates to the EU's budget rules, aiming to enhance investment while maintaining fiscal discipline. The agreement updates the Stability and Growth Pact established in the late 1990s, which sets limits on national debt at 60% of GDP and public deficits at three percent.
