The Telecom Disputes and Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Monday directed the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) to clarify whether Reliance Jio Infocomm’s (Jio) offers — Welcome Offer and Happy New Year Offer — are compliant with the Telecom Consumer Protection Regulations, 2012 (TCPR).The TDSAT bench, comprising members B B Srivastava and A K Bhargava, also directed the Trai to clarify whether Jio had informed its subscribers about both the offers. TDSAT said that before passing an order it wants Trai to clarify if the offers are in compliance with TCPR norms, differ from each other and whether Jio informed its subscribers about the different offers, the issues that the Bench had also raised for clarifications in its hearing on February 6.
