India and the United States are expected to issue a joint statement within the next four to five days on the proposed bilateral trade agreement, with the first tranche of the deal almost ready, the trade minister said on Thursday. Piyush Goyal said discussions between New Delhi and Washington were progressing steadily and that the initial phase of the agreement would mark an important step in strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
