Donald Trump's administration has lowered the proposed tariff on a majority of Indian exports to 10% from the earlier 12.5% under its Section 301 forced-labour investigation, handing New Delhi a relative trade advantage over several competing manufacturing economies even as exporters continue to face higher costs in the US market. The revised tariff structure, which took effect immediately after the expiry of temporary Section 122 duties on July 24, applies to roughly 70% of India's exports to the US.
