Centre absorbs global fertiliser price rise to shield farmers from cost burden, says PM

Amid concerns over rising global fertiliser prices and supply uncertainties due to crisis in the Gulf region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Centre had absorbed the increase in input costs rather than passing the burden on to farmers. Addressing a gathering in Bhildi, Banaskantha, he cited subsidised fertiliser prices and direct benefit transfers to farmers while inaugurating and launching development projects worth over Rs. 14,000 crore in Gujarat.
