India’s $180-billion pension pool may widen stock bets: Could your NPS savings get better returns?

India’s $180-billion pension pool could expand its investment universe from the top 250 to as many as 500 listed companies by market capitalisation, potentially widening the pool of institutional investors for mid-cap and emerging large-cap stocks. The proposal is part of a broader review of investment rules for pension funds that could also allow greater exposure to lower-rated corporate debt and alternative assets.
