Direct tax mop-up rises 13%, STT revenues surge 52%

The government has met 50% of its direct tax collection target for the current financial year, with corporate tax and securities transactions tax leading the growth. Data released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Thursday showed that direct tax collections after refunds rose 13.2% year-on-year to Rs 13.38 lakh crore as of October 14.
