BoP surplus jumps to $45 bn in August on FCNR inflows

India’s Balance of Payments (BoP) surplus jumped to $45.4 billion in August mainly due to large inflows under the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Foreign Currency Non-Resident Bank (FCNRB) scheme, data released by the central bank on Thursday showed. In contrast, the year-ago month saw a depletion of $5.6 billion from the reserves on a BoP basis. The BoP was in a surplus of $20.8 billion in July.
