US 10-year Treasury yield hits 5.32%: What is driving the rise?
08-Oct-2026

The yield on the benchmark 10-year US Treasury note rose to 5.32% on Wednesday. The rise comes as investors worry about persistent inflation, higher oil prices, heavy government borrowing and the possibility that interest rates will remain high for longer. The 30-year Treasury yield also climbed to 5.70%, its highest level in 24 years. The 10-year yield has risen by about 60 basis points since the end of July, and US crude prices have increased by about 20% over the same period.
