GST credit relief for hotels in the works

The GST Council meeting on October 7 could include tax relaxations for the tourism and hospitality industry. According to sources, there is a proposal to allow input tax credit (ITC) for services bought and sold in the same line of business. So booking a hotel room via an aggregator, tour operator or directly from the hospitality company could cost the consumer the same, without tax being attached at every stage.
