The pace of employment and wage growth in India’s organised manufacturing sector recovered in the financial year 2024-25, while the rise in invested capital hit an 8-year high, according to the results of the Annual Survey of Industries released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Wednesday. The number of people employed in the manufacturing sector rose 7.2% year-on-year in FY25, quicker than the 5.9% rise in FY24. The sector employed 21 million people in FY25, up from 19.59 million in FY24. This was the first time the total workers employed in the organised manufacturing sector crossed the 20-million mark.
