Rupee may appreciate as balance of payments outlook improves: RBI DG Gupta

The rupee could stabilise and potentially appreciate from current levels as India’s balance of payments (BoP) position improves, Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Poonam Gupta said at the 13th SBI Banking and Economics Conclave. Gupta said the current account deficit (CAD) is expected to narrow in the coming years, while the capital account could turn more favourable later this financial year and remain so.
