Singapore’s transport minister on Tuesday defended Singapore Airlines’ investment in Air India, saying the carrier needs to expand overseas because there is a limit to how many people will fly to and from the city-state. Responding to a question in Parliament, Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said Singapore Airlines is a listed company that finances its investments from its own balance sheet and has not sought additional capital from its shareholders.
