Tata Sons' top 6 loss-makers burnt almost Rs 70,000 crore in Chandra's second term
13-Aug-2026

Six of Tata Sons' most prominent loss-making companies accumulated combined losses of Rs 68,341 crore, nearly Rs 70,000 crore, over the four financial years from FY23 to FY26, broadly covering N Chandrasekaran's second term as chairman, data compiled by Moneycontrol shows. On August 12, Chandrasekaran announced his decision not to seek a third term following difference with the charitable arm that controls the group. The six companies are Air India, Tata Digital, Tata Projects, Tata Play, Tata International and Tata Realty and Infrastructure. While the Tata Group has several other loss-making entities, these companies were selected because they reported large or persistent losses during the period. Chandrasekaran's second term as chairman began in February 2022 and ends February 2027.
