Not any single Tata family member. At the top of the group sit charitable trusts created by successive generations of the Tata family. Together, philanthropic trusts own about two-thirds of Tata Sons, the group's principal investment holding company and promoter. Two trusts dominate this ownership structure: The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT). Together, they own 51.54% of Tata Sons, giving the two trusts alone an absolute majority.
