Retail inflation rises to 19-month high of 4.45% in July

India’s consumer price index (CPI) inflation rose to a 19-month high of 4.45% in July, but the headline print was only slightly higher than 4.38% registered in June and was in line with expectations, data released by the statistics ministry on Wednesday showed. July was the second consecutive month that retail inflation exceeded the Reserve Bank of India’s medium-term target of 4%.
