Essar Group is marking 15 years of ownership of the UK's Stanlow manufacturing complex, saying it has invested 1 billion pounds in upgrading the refinery since acquiring the site in 2011 and is now pursuing a GBP 4.3 billion pipeline of projects aimed at transforming it into an energy transition hub. The conglomerate in a statement said investments over the past 15 years have reconfigured Stanlow into a single-train operation, expanded the range of crude grades it can process and upgraded its catalytic cracker, helping retain its role as a strategic refining asset. Essar Energy Transition Fuels, a wholly owned Essar Group business that owns and operates Stanlow, recently completed a GBP 100 million (USD 130 million) refinery turnaround that increased throughput by about 8 per cent.
