Credit growth signals economic strength: Finance Ministry

The finance ministry in a statement on Tuesday said robust credit growth demonstrates the resilient domestic economic environment and envisages enhanced appetite for credit across sectors of the Indian economy. Non-food credit growth in FY26 stood at 15.9% against 10.9% in the corresponding period last year. The aggregate credit outstanding in March 2026 reached ?212.9 lakh crore, ?29.2 lakh crore higher than the previous year.
