A component that makes up less than 1% of production costs could end up derailing entire factories if policy missteps persist, a new report has warned, flagging risks to India’s “Make in India” ambitions. A report by the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) warns that Quality Control Orders (QCOs) on fasteners are raising costs, choking supplies, and disrupting production without delivering clear gains in quality -- raising fresh concerns for the “Make in India” programme.
