NHAI debt falls below Rs 2 lakh crore

The outstanding debt of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has dropped below Rs 2 lakh crore, from a alarming high of Rs 3.42 lakh crore it touched in 2022-23, which led to the highway builder being barred from additional market borrowings. By April 17 this year, NHAI’s debt dropped to Rs 1.96 lakh crore, following the repayment of Rs 6,057 crore in the first 15 days of the current financial year.
