India plans next-gen reforms for regional rural banks to boost efficiency, tech adoption

The government is working on a reform agenda for regional rural banks, modelled on an ongoing initiative for public sector banks, to scale up their operations and position them as the front-end for their sponsor banks. "The key focus areas will be technology upgradation, product diversification, and collaboration among RRBs. The idea is to prepare them for next-generation reforms," a government official aware of the developments told ET.
