India's trade deficit narrows on month to $27.1 billion in Feb; Tariff uncertainty, Iran conflict loom

India’s merchandise trade deficit widened to $27.10 billion in February 2026, compared with $14.42 billion in the same month last year, with exports at $36.61 billion and imports at $63.71 billion, according to commerce ministry data released Monday. Economists had projected India’s February trade deficit at $28.8 billion, according to a Reuters poll, lower than the $34.68 billion deficit recorded in the previous month.
