South Korea's Factory Activity Expands at Strongest Pace in Nearly 1-1/2 Years, PMI Shows

South Korea's factory activity expanded at the strongest pace in almost 1-1/2 years in January, as export demand growth surged to a near five-year high, a private sector survey showed on Monday. The purchasing managers index (PMI) for manufacturers in Asia's fourth-largest economy, published by S&P Global, rose to 51.2 in January, from 50.1 in December, marking the highest reading since August 2024.
