British American Tobacco sells 9% ITC Hotels stake for Rs 3,800 crore, retains 6.3% equity

British American Tobacco (BAT) sold a 9 percent stake in ITC Hotels for about Rs 3,800 crore, cutting its holding in the company to 6.3 percent. BAT earlier held 15.3 percent in the recently demerged hotels business of ITC Ltd, a stake it received as part of the spin-off completed in January. The company has been looking to pare debt and exit what it considers a non-strategic investment.
