Global financial markets are showing surprising resilience despite a series of geopolitical and economic challenges, according to Avnish Jain, Chief Investment Officer – Fixed Income at Canara Robeco Asset Management Company. Jain notes that even with the prolonged Russia–Ukraine conflict and the recent US government shutdown, global sentiment has remained steady, supported largely by expectations of monetary easing by the US Federal Reserve. With inflation in the US continuing to cool and growth indicators losing momentum, the Fed is widely expected to cut interest rates in the coming months. “These anticipated rate cuts, along with easing inflation, will likely continue to soften global yields,” Jain explains. Lower global bond yields typically reduce pressure on emerging markets and help attract inflows, supporting broader stability.
