Capital expenditure by Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and key central agencies, including Indian Railways and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), grew 13% year-on-year in the April–October period of 2025–26, underscoring continued momentum in government-led infrastructure investment. According to official data, total capex by these entities stood at Rs 4.4 lakh crore in the first seven months of FY26, compared with Rs 3.9 lakh crore during the same period last year. This represents 56.5% of the full-year target of Rs 7.85 lakh crore, a higher achievement rate than the 50% recorded in the year-ago period.
