Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) were net sellers to the tune of 3,366 crore worth of shares in Indian equities, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net bought Rs 3186 crore worth of shares, according to provisional NSE data, on August 1. DIIs purchased equities worth Rs 14,990 crore and offloaded shares amounting to Rs 11,803 crore. FPIs, on the other hand, bought stocks worth Rs 9,379 crore while selling Rs 12,745 crore. For the year so far, FIIs have been net sellers of equities worth Rs 1.66 lakh crore and DIIs were net buyers worth Rs 4.11 lakh crore. Market Performance Indian equity markets ended the week on a muted note, mirroring the global risk-off sentiment triggered by renewed trade tensions. The Nifty 50 declined 0.8% over the week, extending its underperformance relative to global peers. Broader market weakness was more pronounced, with the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices slipping 1.2% and 1.7%, respectively.
