India and the United States have moved a step closer to a comprehensive trade deal after finalising the Terms of Reference (TOR) that will guide upcoming negotiations. The announcement was made in a joint statement after US Vice President JD Vance met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to India. Ambassador Jamieson Greer, the US Trade Representative, confirmed the development. “I am pleased to confirm that USTR and India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry have finalised the Terms of Reference to lay down a roadmap for the negotiations on reciprocal trade,” he said in a statement released by the Office of the United States Trade Representative.
