US President Donald Trump on April 3 said that countries looking for exemptions from his “kind reciprocal tariffs” will have to lower duties on American goods and “stop manipulating their currencies.” “All the foreign presidents, prime ministers, kings and queens, ambassadors, and everyone else who will soon be calling to ask for exemption on tariffs, I say terminate your own tariffs, drop your own barriers, don’t manipulate your currencies….and start buying tens of billions of dollars of American goods,” Trump said while imposing sweeping duties on US imports, including a levy of 26 percent on India.
