Mankind Pharma, India’s fourth largest pharmaceutical company by market share, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV) from Advent International for around Rs 14,000 crore ($1.67 billion). The transaction is expected to close within three-four months subject to regulatory approvals, Mankind said in a press release late on Thursday. Mankind has trumped a rival bid by a consortium of EQT and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), sources said. ET was the first to report about the acquisition online on Thursday afternoon. This will be the largest acquisition by the company that got listed a year back.
