India in a cleft stick with policy choice amid elevated inflation and growth resurrection fight

The US Federal Reserve on Wednesday is widely expected to go for another 75 basis points of rate hike in its battle to tame inflation pressure that has been an unruly beast not just for the world's biggest economy but globally, be it for developed economies or the emerging ones, including India. The artillery for almost all key central banks has been to hike rates and thereby compress demand, even though nations, like India, are fighting hard for growth recovery. A Reuters report today said citing unnamed sources that New Delhi is in no hurry to push inflation back to the mandated 2-6 percent as it fears aggressive rate hikes may impact growth.
