FPI holding limits for all listed stocks raised to sectoral limits
04-Apr-2020

National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) and Central Depository Services Ltd (CDSL) on Friday revised Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) limits for all listed stocks on Indian bourses. With Friday’s move, FPI limit in certain stocks has gone up to 100 per cent. The move is likely to increase India’s weightage in MSCI and FTSE global indices. This comes in the wake of MSCI’s decision to defer changes to India’s weightage in its global indices, citing lack of implementation of the government decision to raise the statutory FPI limit in domestic companies from 24 per cent to the respective sectoral foreign direct investment (FDI) limits. That FPI limit change was to take effect on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
