Fitch Ratings on Friday projected that the global economy will fall into a deep recession in 2020 due to the massive disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, with growth print contracting by 1.9 per cent, pulled down by larger contraction in the US and the Euro zone. The ratings agency's Chief Economist Brian Coulton pegged India's growth at 2 per cent and China's at under 2 per cent -- making them the two large economies which will not slip into recession. "A deep global recession is our baseline forecast... The speed with which the coronavirus pandemic is evolving has necessitated another round of huge cuts to our growth forecasts.
